Day 305 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

         Today I am thankful that Dan was a guinea pig for Olivia's men's haircut!  He went to her cosmetology school and she cut his hair!! I think she did a great job!  Her teacher was right there in the room in case she had any problems.  She shaved his neck in the back and also trimmed his eyebrows.  My sister is thinking of taking her son there. The prices are really low but of course, he gave her a $20 tip!! It's only hair and we figure it will grow again.  Dan usually goes to a salon near where we live.  The owner cuts his hair.  Dan was telling Olivia about the place because the owner said to bring Olivia in and she can watch him cut Dan's hair.  Maybe the owner will hire her when she graduates.We are always looking for a future job opportunity!!   She had planned to stay at the salon she works at part-time but now she doesn't want to do that.  The other two assistants are licensed cosmetologists and they were both waiting for a chair to open for them.  They wanted to be stylists and thought they would get the full time position when there was an opening. However, the owner hired a brand new stylist.  Olivia doesn't want that to happen to her.




 
 I am also thankful that Olivia had fun at her class Halloween party!  She did her own outfit and make-up for the party.  Her friends asked her why she doesn't usually wear make-up because they think she looks good with it on.  She said she is too lazy to get up early to put it on. Her boyfriend likes her better without make-up on!  So do I!

       Today is St Patty's Day! Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!  This isn't a holiday that we usually ceIebrate because Dan and I are not big drinkers.  I don't drink at all, maybe a sip of champagne at a wedding but that is it. Today I am thankful  that Olivia and I are going to the thrift store. I love going to thrift stores. I absolutely need nothing but I always find something there.  My youngest daughter Olya is a great thrift store shopper, she always finds new name brand clothing. I guess if you're pretty and thin, you look good in anything! My girls could wear paper bags and look good! Since it is St Patrick's Day, the thrift shop is giving 17% off of purchases. So I am sure we will come home with plenty of stuff we don't need.       Today was Joe's birthday.  When we called him we asked what my granddaughter Kaylee wanted for her birthday in April.  She will be 7. Day 363 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

          Today I am thankful that we are having a good time on our vacation in Texas!! We didn't have any set plans and just decided to do things as we had time.  Dan really wanted to visit NASA so we did that and we all enjoyed the visit.  Time just keeps moving forward in life and it is the simple things and shared moments that mean the most.  This was the MOST crowded place we went to on our trip. After Nasa we decided to head to Galveston.  We found a great place to tour.  It was called the Bishop's Palace. It was a beautiful historical house that was once owned by a very rich couple, Josephine and Walter Gresham, and later owned by the Catholic archdiocese of Galveston and became the Bishop's home.  The woodwork inside was magnificent and breathtaking!  Olivia and Olya really enjoyed touring the home.

Day 362 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

          Today I am thankful that we went on a vacation to Texas for the Winter break!  We wanted to go somewhere new and just have a relaxing and fun time together!  We went to see the George Bush Memorial and Presidential Library. The museum part was closed due to the government shut down but it was very humbling to visit the grave of George, his wife Barbara, and their daughter Robin Bush. Robin died at age 4 from leukemia.  Robin's legal name was Pauline.  There was a cop on duty, I guess to prevent vandalism or grave robbing.  The place was mobbed!  I was so surprised because the museum part was closed.  We could see his desk and his presidential limo inside the gate of the museum.  I am wondering who funds the presidential libraries and how they choose a place to erect the presidential libraries.  Bush's Presidential Library is on the grounds Texas A & M University. I know he attended there.  The girls googled some of the other presidential libraries.  Clinton&
