Day 203 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

ANOTHER  FREAKING BAT!!!!!  The bat saga continues!!!!!!!!!!! I am thankful that I haven't seen a bat today!  On Fri. night, Olya told me that she heard a chirping, scratching sound in the living room.  We have a torch light in the farthest corner of the room.
  Olya turned on her phone and used it as a flashlight.  She shone it up at the torch lamp and there was a freaking bat in the lamp.  We didn't know what to do, Dan was away. So I told Olya to stick a pillow over the top of the lamp and we would ask Dan what to do.  She is the tallest so it was her job to stick the pillow on the top of the lamp. Olya kept saying, "I'm afraid," but she did it. Dan told us that when we were away in MD, that a bat flew into the family room when he was watching TV, he caught the bat and disposed of it.  He told Olya to take the lamp outside and try to trap the bat. So Olivia, Olya, and I carried the heavy lamp outside.  First we put a trash bag over the top of the lamp and pulled the pillow out.  The three of us were screaming while we were doing it We finally got the torch lamp outside but we were all afraid to take off the trash bag.  Finally we tipped the lamp upside down and the glass top fell off with the bat inside of it. Olivia wanted to see the bat but Olya and I wouldn't open the bag. Eventually we got the bat in the bag and disposed of it.  But we kept screaming while we were doing it. Bats are scary!!
        I am scared that we have a bat colony somewhere in our house.  Yesterday was Olivia's 21st birthday party so I'm  glad we got rid of the bat before that happened!  I kept thinking one would show up at the party but that didn't happen. Maybe we finally got rid of most of the bat family. I would be extremely thankful if the bat problem is gone!!!!
         I am also so thankful that Olya and her friend Paige helped me clean up after the party!!Those two are the best workers! My bestie Priscilla washed and dried a lot of the serving platters.  It is wonderful to have so many great and generous friends, I am thankful for all of them. Priscilla left her purse at the house last night so she came and picked it up today.  I am always happy to see her.  We chatted about the party and our favorite show...90 Day Fiance!

       Today is St Patty's Day! Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!  This isn't a holiday that we usually ceIebrate because Dan and I are not big drinkers.  I don't drink at all, maybe a sip of champagne at a wedding but that is it. Today I am thankful  that Olivia and I are going to the thrift store. I love going to thrift stores. I absolutely need nothing but I always find something there.  My youngest daughter Olya is a great thrift store shopper, she always finds new name brand clothing. I guess if you're pretty and thin, you look good in anything! My girls could wear paper bags and look good! Since it is St Patrick's Day, the thrift shop is giving 17% off of purchases. So I am sure we will come home with plenty of stuff we don't need.       Today was Joe's birthday.  When we called him we asked what my granddaughter Kaylee wanted for her birthday in April.  She will be 7. Day 363 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

          Today I am thankful that we are having a good time on our vacation in Texas!! We didn't have any set plans and just decided to do things as we had time.  Dan really wanted to visit NASA so we did that and we all enjoyed the visit.  Time just keeps moving forward in life and it is the simple things and shared moments that mean the most.  This was the MOST crowded place we went to on our trip. After Nasa we decided to head to Galveston.  We found a great place to tour.  It was called the Bishop's Palace. It was a beautiful historical house that was once owned by a very rich couple, Josephine and Walter Gresham, and later owned by the Catholic archdiocese of Galveston and became the Bishop's home.  The woodwork inside was magnificent and breathtaking!  Olivia and Olya really enjoyed touring the home.

Day 362 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

          Today I am thankful that we went on a vacation to Texas for the Winter break!  We wanted to go somewhere new and just have a relaxing and fun time together!  We went to see the George Bush Memorial and Presidential Library. The museum part was closed due to the government shut down but it was very humbling to visit the grave of George, his wife Barbara, and their daughter Robin Bush. Robin died at age 4 from leukemia.  Robin's legal name was Pauline.  There was a cop on duty, I guess to prevent vandalism or grave robbing.  The place was mobbed!  I was so surprised because the museum part was closed.  We could see his desk and his presidential limo inside the gate of the museum.  I am wondering who funds the presidential libraries and how they choose a place to erect the presidential libraries.  Bush's Presidential Library is on the grounds Texas A & M University. I know he attended there.  The girls googled some of the other presidential libraries.  Clinton&
