Today I am thankful that we are leaving for vacation for a few days. Olivia and Olya will be out on their own in a few years so this will probably be one of our last vacations with the 4 of us!
Today I got my hair cut at the salon where Olivia works. I am thankful that I got to see her at work and meet some of her co-workers. I asked for her as my shampoo girl. She did a great job! Everyone there really likes her. I met the owner and he said he enjoys having he work here because he feels her enthusiasm for cosmetology. The woman who cut my hair said the same thing. They enjoy listening to the things she tells them she is learning in cosmetology school. It's nice to see your adult kids successful! I got a great haircut, I just love it. Of course, I almost dropped dead when I was told the price of $80.00! I gave the beautician a tip of $20 and I left a tip of $10 for Olivia. Olivia is really in her element there. When you check out there, they give you tiny envelopes to put the tips in a basket. There are names on wooden blocks behind the basket. The receptionist wa...
Today I am thankful for the kindness of strangers! When I am using my walker or cane, most people are always so nice! They run in front of me to open the door and hold it for me! An older gentleman waited by the side of my car when I was getting my walker out. He asked if he could help me. I said no, thank you, I am OK. Then he waited at the door of the store and opened it for me! I thanked him and told him that he was a gentleman. I am also thankful for my stupid cats! When we got Nittany, about a year ago, Olivia bought him a cat bed. He never went in the bed. Olivia would put him in the bed and try to hold him in there, but as soon as she'd let go, he would jump out. Fast forward a year when we got Rosie at the SPCA. She loved the cat bed from he moment we brought her home! Every time that Rosie comes into the room, Nittany jumps in the cat bed! If she i...
I am thankful to have my friend Debbie in my life. She is too funny for words. She should go do stand-up on America;s Got Talent! Below is her message to me after telling me about Lory's guinea pig, Denver. The posting below made me laugh so much that my stomach hurt!!! After 21 years I still do feel bad for Denver. I remember when my beloved cat Mittens was on her last few days on earth. She was a beautiful calico cat and lived for 19 years. I didn't want the same thing to happen to her as did Denver. So I had Vinny make a beautiful box made out of oak to put her in when her time came so I could giver her a proper burial. When that morning came Vinny told me Mittens had passed. I sat at the kitchen counter in tears but was so thankful for Vinny making that beautiful box for her. He gently carried her downstairs and before I could wipe my eyes he was carrying her back up. Stupid me thought he ...
