Day 337 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

         Today I am thankful that my night time bereaved parents group is having a candle lighting ceremony to honor our deceased children. We are having dinner together first.  It is a bittersweet ceremony. We all wish we had no reason to be there but we all do have a reason.
One of Olivia's high school friends lost his brother to drugs a few days ago. I don't know the family but I feel so awful for them.  Her friend's dad is also dealing with cancer. Many things in life make no sense when it comes to a young person losing their life.
        I went to the chiropractor today.  He assessed me but didn't do any manipulations. I have to admit that I was scared going because I have never gone to a chiropractor before.  He is married to my friend Fran.  She is the nicest person ever and he was also just a wonderful, kind man.  We went to the same elementary school, it really is a small world!! He said that my back is totally inflamed and I need to get the inflammation down before he can do any adjustments. I have to apply ice several times a day and see if that helps.  And I have to stop sitting and lie down instead.  I will try anything to get rid of the pain!!

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray! Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...
