Day 292 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

          Today I am thankful that it is FRIDAY!!!
We are going away for the weekend to celebrate Dan's birthday.  He wants to go camping so that is what we are doing. I try to do what each person wants for their birthday.  My painful leg is telling me to stay home but I am planning to go.  I'll just take pain meds with me and my medical marijuana. The Gabapentin makes me so sleepy and gives me a break from the pain for awhile. Plain old Tylenol also makes me sleepy!
 
 
I food shopped for Fri night barbecue and we will go out to dinner on Sat. night. I can't stand very long so I will buy a cake instead of baking one.  Matt and Frankie are going to go to dinner with us and have a campfire with us. Then Olivia, Olya, and Frankie will go back to Olya's apartment and they will sleep there.  Matt will go back to his apartment. There really isn't any extra room in the camper.  Dan (maybe a little from me) will have to pack up the camper by himself on Sun morning because I can't be of much help right now. I can't wait to go back into the hyperbaric chamber on Monday. Then I'll find out if Wed. was a fluke or that I feel a bit better after a treatment.

I am also thankful that today I will get to see Olya. We are picking her up in the late afternoon.  First we will pick up Olivia after Cosmetology school and then we will drive for a few hours and pick up Olya from her dorm.  And then we will drive to the camping location and set up our camper.  I always love sitting around the campfire at night.   I will get a small cake for Dan for Saturday night, which is his real birthday.

I have started reading  A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald. It is really good.  I could just sit and read and read this book, it is really good! It is about Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald and the legendary circles they travelled in.  I only have a week to get it read for the library book club.  I just finished The Witch of Lime Street.  I liked part of the book but it was a very long and slow read for me.

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
