Day 274 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

         Today I am thankful for the fun time that Dan and I had with Olivia. She turned 21 in July and is legal in all areas and places..  We took her to the casino for the first time last night. I usually forget that she is 21 but she is!
She got her casino card at the main desk.  She showed that as we entered the casino floor but they still asked her for a photo ID! I knew she would be carded. I gave her $20 to play.  We only played the slots. She was winning at first but that doesn't ever last long!
She thought it was fun until she started losing and had no money left!  She said that she definitely wouldn't  be a regular gambler because her money(my money) went too fast!! Of course, we had to eat there because it is always about the food!!!! After we ate and went home, we waited for Frankie and we all went to see a late movie.  We saw Night School.  We paid for the tickets, of course.  I always take bottles of water and candy into the movies. Olivia doesn't like that and always wants to buy at the concession stand  When I took out the bag of Swedish Fish, she wanted me to hide it and open it slowly.  I took great pains to open it loudly and crinkle the wrapper!  She and Frankie went to the concession stand and got a large popcorn and a large soda to the tune of $14!!! My dad trained us to take our own candy into the movies. The movie was stupid but extremely funny!!! We laughed and laughed!! Kevin Hart stars in the movie.
         What I have noticed is that if Olivia and Olya are the photo for my blog, I get A LOT more readers.  I wonder why that is???
          My friend Jackie told me to try to sit on a tennis ball for my sciatica pain.  I googled a few things and it told me where to place the tennis ball and what to do with it.  It says that there can be immediate pain/discomfort but overall relief so I am trying it. I will try anything!
         Work on the GLAM ROOM continues.  Dan and Olivia are hanging the ceiling lights today.  Hopefully, all goes well.  Dan and I went to Home Depot and he got the supposed needed supplies.  Once the lights are up, Olivia can move in the furniture and decorate.


Yesterday Renee called me and asked me if I wanted to go to the movies with her!! Of course I wanted to go.  I have not been to the movies for months and now I went to one movie on Sat night and another movie of Sunday late afternoon.  I ordered the tickets and she picked me up.  We saw A Simple Favor with Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively.  Renee loves that I bring snacks and drinks and shared them all with me!! I am so thankful that my daughters all like to do things with me!
It was a thriller!  Renee and I loved the mvoie, we figured most of it out before it was revealed!

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
