Day 264 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

          Today I am thankful that Dan and I finished making all of our travel reservations for our  upcoming Houston trip!   It takes forever to make train, hotel, and car reservations! It is a job that has to get done and is time consuming!  After I made hotel reservations, Dan reminded me of our discount so he called back and we got 10% off of our hotel reservations!  Every little bit helps when you are going on a trip for a vacation! We are going to Disney in the Spring.  I really am "Disneyed" out after going so many times,  but the girls really want to go one more time. Having five kids makes Disney a place I have been to enough.  Our three older kids were in high school band and we went every time the band played in Disney.  It is quite  a smart marketing strategy to have high school bands perform there because many of the families then go on a vacation to Disney!  It is exciting to see your kid walk down Main Street with their band. We have gone to Disneyland and Disney World. The Spring trip is to Disney, FL.  Olya just LOVES everything Disney. She wanted to go to Disney from the first time she saw an ad on TV!  She didn't even know what it was, she just saw the Sleeping Beauty Castle in a commercial and was hooked!  The Disney, CA trip was a surprise.  They didn't know we were going to Disney until we parked and started walking towards the hotel.  We have been to CA a few times but that trip was the first time we took them to Disney while in CA! Disney CA is much smaller but very nice!!

        Today Dan went to pick up Olivia at school.  When he got there, he called her to tell her that he was downstairs waiting for her in the car.  She asked him why he was there outside of her apartment!  He called Olya by mistake. Olya is away at college!  He woke her up!!

Day 77 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

       Today is St Patty's Day! Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!  This isn't a holiday that we usually ceIebrate because Dan and I are not big drinkers.  I don't drink at all, maybe a sip of champagne at a wedding but that is it. Today I am thankful  that Olivia and I are going to the thrift store. I love going to thrift stores. I absolutely need nothing but I always find something there.  My youngest daughter Olya is a great thrift store shopper, she always finds new name brand clothing. I guess if you're pretty and thin, you look good in anything! My girls could wear paper bags and look good! Since it is St Patrick's Day, the thrift shop is giving 17% off of purchases. So I am sure we will come home with plenty of stuff we don't need.       Today was Joe's birthday.  When we called him we asked what my granddaughter Kaylee wanted for her birthday in April.  She will be 7. Day 363 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

          Today I am thankful that we are having a good time on our vacation in Texas!! We didn't have any set plans and just decided to do things as we had time.  Dan really wanted to visit NASA so we did that and we all enjoyed the visit.  Time just keeps moving forward in life and it is the simple things and shared moments that mean the most.  This was the MOST crowded place we went to on our trip. After Nasa we decided to head to Galveston.  We found a great place to tour.  It was called the Bishop's Palace. It was a beautiful historical house that was once owned by a very rich couple, Josephine and Walter Gresham, and later owned by the Catholic archdiocese of Galveston and became the Bishop's home.  The woodwork inside was magnificent and breathtaking!  Olivia and Olya really enjoyed touring the home.

Day 362 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

          Today I am thankful that we went on a vacation to Texas for the Winter break!  We wanted to go somewhere new and just have a relaxing and fun time together!  We went to see the George Bush Memorial and Presidential Library. The museum part was closed due to the government shut down but it was very humbling to visit the grave of George, his wife Barbara, and their daughter Robin Bush. Robin died at age 4 from leukemia.  Robin's legal name was Pauline.  There was a cop on duty, I guess to prevent vandalism or grave robbing.  The place was mobbed!  I was so surprised because the museum part was closed.  We could see his desk and his presidential limo inside the gate of the museum.  I am wondering who funds the presidential libraries and how they choose a place to erect the presidential libraries.  Bush's Presidential Library is on the grounds Texas A & M University. I know he attended there.  The girls googled some of the other presidential libraries.  Clinton&
