Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful
Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday. We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!
Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came. Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August. Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family! After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party. I am guessing about 50 people were at the party! There was so much food. There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables. A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour! I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray! There were so many desserts that it was difficult what to choose to eat so I sampled many!! Their birthday cake was from Wegman's, it was a rich and moist chocolate cake with a raspberry filling with real raspberries and white icing, and it was scrumptious!!
I was happy to see all of Renee's girlfriends, most of her closest girlfriends she met in elementary school! All of Renee's friends have successful careers. I always told my kids to be a nerd or they will work under a nerd, better to be the boss nerd! Elaine, one of Renee's best friends was a bridesmaid in her wedding. Elaine met one of Adam's best friends who was an usher and they have been a couple ever since!! A lot of her neighbors came, most were young couples with babies and toddlers!
Walid, Adam's dad, was telling us about schools in Lebanon where he grew up. There was no bullying, all of the children are taught to get along. Americans should take a page out of their book because bullying is a huge problem in the U.S. Today, with the technology of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, kids can be bullied 24/7. Kids can be so mean, I am not sure why any kids get pleasure out of tormenting other kids.
Today we are going to Adam and Renee's country club for brunch with Adam's parents. Dan and I have never belonged to a country club. I think if you are an avid golfer, that a country club is the place to join. Adam loves to play golf. Renee could join the tennis group there, she was on the varsity tennis team in high school and she played racquet ball on a Penn State club sport team.
