Day 255 of 365 Days of Being Thankful
Today I am thankful for fruits and vegetables!! I stopped at the farm market near us.They are colorful and pretty but not as cute as the Hershey Kisses!
I got fresh veggies to make chicken stir fry and lots of fresh fruits. I got red grapes, green grapes, lemons, strawberries, bananas blueberries, and raspberries. I cut and washed all the veggies and I made the white rice and will doctor the white rice with garlic and soy sauce and onions and eggs when Olivia gets home!! The Hershey Kisses are still vying for my attention but I am trying to ignore their pleas to eat them. I'll have a few tonight maybe! They are so much easier to eat than fruits and vegetables. There is no washing, peeling, cutting or slicing, you just pull off the foil wrap and pop a kiss into your mouth!! It took me over an hour to wash, cut, and peel the veggies and then more time to cook the stir fry! I could have eaten a bag of kisses and been full already but I am trying to be good!!
I am also thankful that all of Olivia's wash is finally finished and put away for the most part! She has way too many clothes. She never gains weight so all of her clothes continue to fit her. It's good I organized her clothes by color because she can see what she has! I see that she can't even fit everything in her two closets. I had to let her use half of a closet in the guest room! I started organizing Olivia's drawers. OMG, she has way tooo many clothes. Her room, drawers and closets are stuffed!
Last night Olivia came in my room. We sat on the bed and played with the cat and chatted. It was really nice and I am thankful for that time with her. I got to hear about Cosmetology school and all of her classmates. All of the girls finish at different times. It seems that they all find employment relatively quickly. Olivia says that the salon she is working at will hire her full-time when she finishes school. I hope they do because it is a high end salon and very pricey and she gets good tips as a shampoo girl!
Today it is 9/11(I write my blog the day before I post it),
I feel so emotionally connected to the families because Amy died only a few months before 9/11. I remember watching the planes hit the towers and thinking, OMG, those poor victims and their families. Their lives are forever changed. Tonight on the news, they showed a story of a woman who lost her brother on 9/11, I think he was a firefighter. She has a list of the names of all of the 9/11 victims and their birthdays. Everyday she puts a white rose when it is someone's birthday. I got teary when I watched her kind gestures. She said that there is at least one birthday on every day of the year. A local florist, who was an EMT on 9/11 donates the white roses. The florist said that it makes him feel good to donate the roses. I am thankful that there are people like this in the world we live in.
I found the info below online:
There is at least one birthday for every day of the year and often more than one a day. Mikey “Flowers” Collarone of FloraTech, a downtown florist and former emergency medical technician that responded to 9/11, hand selects the roses from a local flower market and donates them to the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
