Day 247 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

I am thankful to have my friend Debbie in my life.  She is too funny for words.  She should go do stand-up on America;s Got Talent!  Below is her message to me after telling me about Lory's guinea pig, Denver.  The posting below made me laugh so much that my stomach hurt!!!

After 21 years I still do feel bad for Denver. I remember when my beloved cat Mittens was on her last few days on earth. She was a beautiful calico cat and lived for 19 years. I didn't want the same thing to happen to her as did Denver. So I had Vinny make a beautiful box made out of oak to put her in when her time came so I could giver her a proper burial. When that morning came Vinny told me Mittens had passed. I sat at the kitchen counter in tears but was so thankful for Vinny making that beautiful box for her. He gently carried her downstairs and before I could wipe my eyes he was carrying her back up. Stupid me thought he didn't have the heart to do it but nope that wasn't the case. He said as he placed her in the box and was going to put the top on she opened her eyes and meowed. Colleen I know you're laughing right now and that's ok because I can laugh about it now. Moral of this story is....If I see Vinny making a large beautiful box...I'm moving.

Debbie can always come and live with me if Vinny starts working on a large beautiful box!

Today I am also thankful that Dan and I went to visit Olya at her college for Labor Day.  We packed picnic supplies and a grill and off we went!  We took a leisurely drive through Amish country.  I love watching all the Amish people do their farm work.

We stopped at an Amish roadside stand to get corn on the cob.  Dan also got a ton of little homemade pies, cherry, blueberry, apple, raspberry, etc and a loaf of cornbread.  (ALWAYS about the food!)  Olivia and Frankie left the day before to spend time with Olya and they stayed overnight in her apartment. Frankie went on his first visit to a Sheetz!
We all love Sheetz, we think of Sheetz as an upgraded WAWA. Frankie also really liked Sheetz! After our leisurely drive, we went to Olya's apartment and picked up Olya, Olivia and Frankie.

We invited Olya's roommate to come with us but she already had plans! We drove about thirty minutes to a place where Dan likes to watch trains and we grilled hot dogs and ate hoagies.

I think we saw three LONG trains while sitting there!
After our picnic, we headed to the close-by city to see what was going on there!  We found a Native American Festival so we went to that.  We rode a train around the festival!

After the festival, we dropped Olivia and Frankie back at Olya's apartment.  They had to get on the road because Frankie had to go back to his dorm by 10 pm. Dan and I still wanted to spend more time with Olya so we went shopping!  Dan, Olya and I went to Target to get some needed supplies for Olya and then we went to Dairy Queen.  I was sad to drop Olya back at her apartment but she is happy and doing well at school.  I am thankful that we all spent the day together!
