Day 243 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

Today I am thankful that Dan and I went to  my appointment with the physiotherapist.  I actually had never heard of a physiotherapist.  He referred to himself as a movement specialist! I just hope all he did to me helps alleviate some or all of my pain.  He supposedly treats the whole person or whole body.  He thinks my sciatica was caused by all the stress in my life.  First he talked an asked questions.  He asked how I knew my friend Priscilla and I told him that we are both bereaved moms who lost a daughter and are best friends.  He asked about my health and I detailed it fr him.  He said my sciatica is due to PTSD from Amy's death. He said my neck was out of alignment and so was my back and my hips.  I am wondering why my sciatica didn't happen sooner because Amy died 17 years ago.  He said it is an accumulation of stress.  I don't know why my sciatica happened, I just want it gone.  He was very nice and talked the entire time he was manipulating my body.  He manipulated my body from my neck down to my toes, front and back.  Right now I am in a lot of pain so I am hoping some of my pain subsides in the next day or two.  He told me that when the pain comes(it is non-stop, relentless pain) to embrace the pain and be one with the pain. I don't want to embrace it but that is what he said to do! He also told me not to think about it to create new neuropathways to my brain.  This morning I am really in pain, it is either the same or a bit worse. I found the following info online:  Physiotherapy is the treatment of injury, disease and disorders through physical methods — such as exercise, massage, manipulation and other treatments — over medication and surgery. Physiotherapy is treatment to restore, maintain, and make the most of a patient's mobility, function, and well-being. Physiotherapy helps through physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and health and fitness.Physiotherapists get you involved in your own recovery. Physiotherapy indicates more of a hands-on manual therapy approach to rehabilitation, while Physical Therapy indicates a more exercise-based approach to rehabilitation. I'll try ANYTHING that might work!  I do have to say that he was hands on,  manipulating my body the entire time! I really hope I feel some relief from pain in the next few days.

After my appointment, we went over the bridge and got corn on the cob(always about the food!). The corn we got over the weekend was fantastic so we were hoping to get the same type of corn!
Dan had looked up a few farm stands yesterday so he knew where they were! We got some fruits too!  Fresh picked, local fruits and vegetables are usually the best! Dan cooked the corn when we got home.  It wasn't so great!
I am amazed by how small the world really is!  The physiotherapist I saw yesterday actually worked on our civil trial attorney! I would think lawyers would have a lot of back problems so that is probably why our attorney used the therapist.  Olivia's boyfriend's ex-girlfriend is in her Cosmetology Class.  She doesn't live anywhere near us and went to a different school so it is quite a coincidence! Frankie's younger brother attended an IU school that I worked out and Frankie attended a different IU Technical school that I also worked at.

My close friends Jackie and Carol invited me to go to lunch. I appreciated the invitation and really wanted to go but I turned it down.  Until I get some sciatica relief I just can't commit to anything social because I don't want to back out on my friends.
