Day 206 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

Today I am thankful for happy surprises.  Dan was off from work yesterday so he and Olya went train watching.  They drove a few hours and stopped different places and saw about 12 trains.  At the end of the train watching, Dan told Olya that they wete only about 30 minutes from her boyfriend's town. So Olya texted with his mom and asked her if she wanted to meet for dinner. Olya and Matt's mom have become friends.  They like Olya a lot and she likes them a lot!  And she did want to meet for dinner!  Matt's mom didn't tell Matt or his brother Kyle that Olya was going to be there.  Matt's mom is good with keeping secrets! When Matt got home from work, his mom told him to change because they were going out to dinner at Hoss's Steak House.

Matt gave her a hard time, he didn't really want to go but he did.  He said, "Hoss's, that's a long drive, why do we have to go there?" Dan and Olya were sitting inside the restaurant across from the door.  Matt didn't notice Olya at first.  He looked at Dan and had a quizzical look on his face like he couldn't place Dan.  Then he looked to his left and saw Olya.  Dan said he started smiling a wide smile and it was so nice to see his face light up like that!! Matt said to his mom, "well played, you got me!" He never expected to see Olya there.
Several years ago, we went to CA for a family vacation.  We rented a car. We had been in CA a few days and stayed at different hotels as we found fun things to do.  As we were driving, Olivia started reading some of the street signs.........Mickey Way, Donald Drive.  She asked me if we were near Disney CA and I said, "How would I know?  I've never been to Disney CA!"   We parked and got out and started walking towards a hotel.  We walked about ten  feet and all of a sudden, Olivia says........."are we in Disney CA, are we staying here?"  Renee, Olivia, and Olya started jumping up and down and screaming "OMG, OMG, OMG! ARE YOU KIDDING US?? WE ARE REALLY STAYING HERE??"  They were definitely happily surprised! That was when they actually liked hanging around with us and we weren't too stupid yet! A few years later, we knew nothing! Apparently, the older they got, the stupider we got!
When Olivia was 18, we had a surprise birthday party for her and we did a flash mob dance outside of the restaurant to the Pharrell Williams song Happy.  The staff came out and watched us and cars stopped along the double lane road to watch us!.  We were not very good but it cracked Olivia up! We did a conga line into the restaurant after our dance!
