Day 189 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful that my headache went away!  We never really appreciate good health until we lose it!  I woke up not feeling well.  I forced myself to get up and go to church! After the cemetery, we came home and I took some meds and a nap.  Now I feel much better. When we had stopped at the Amish food stand a  few days ago, Dan bought two pounds of blueberries.  He didn't eat them so I made blueberry bread today!(always about the food)  It smelled so good while baking! Of course, Dan ate the first piece!
       Last night, Dan and I went to a concert at a local park.  It was a Van Halen Tribute Band.  When we were there, I saw my friend Candy while Dan was at the snack bar.  I told Dan so he yelled down to her a few minutes later.  She was sitting way below us. Candy didn't know where the voice was coming from so she was looking all over, sort of like the voice of God calling her!  She finally saw Dan and smiled and waved.  People definitely see things from different points of view.  I thought the band was loud and awful, Candy posted on Facebook that it was excellent!
    It is so hard to believe that Olivia will be 21 next week!  How did that happen? We met and adopted her when she was 9, almost 10! How did this adorable little girl grow up so quickly into such a wonderful and beautiful young woman?

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. The Terminix guy told me that I have mouse activity in my attic so Dan and I will buy traps tomorrow. The second guy told me that sometimes bats just fly around and fin...

Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
