Day 184 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

YIKES for Olivia and Olya!!!!!On Monday night Dan  and I were sound asleep and woke up o the girls screaming.......MOM, MOM, MOM, .....OMG   Get up!!!  We sleep on opposite sides of the camper!! I woke up to seeing them standing together close enough to be conjoined twins! Many times they bicker being in such close space in the camper but at this moment they were each other's supportive shadow!! I thought the camper was on fire!  I really did.They were screaming about a huge black bug. It looked even bigger when it was flying around!  The look on their faces was priceless! I am thankful it wasn't a fire!
  The bug flew around while they screamed and it headed over to Dan!  Dan finally killed it!! We started cracking up about how close they were standing next to each other! Dan thought the bug was a cicada but it wasn't making the chirping sound.  I found a picture of a cicada below,  our bug didn't have the lacy feathery wings. It had huge hard menacing wings.

After we went back to sleep and got up in the morning, we left the campground and went to a family fun center!  Dan and the girls went on go-karts and played laser tag! Olya won the race. Then we purchased a few movies, some ice, and food to make breakfast the next morning!(the food thing again) and went back to the campground.  
         When we got back, we all took a nap(the night's "BUG" incident stole some of our sleep the night before).  When Olya got up, she put the new hammock together.  She is really good at assembling things and figuring out mechanical problems. Later we went out to a Chinese/Japanese buffet dinner!

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. The Terminix guy told me that I have mouse activity in my attic so Dan and I will buy traps tomorrow. The second guy told me that sometimes bats just fly around and fin...

Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
