Day 153 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

         Today I am thankful that my family was together to celebrate Olya's birthday! exactly what Olya told Renee that she wanted!!! Olya's boyfriend matt is very, very funny!  He has an extremely dry sense of humor and he cracks me up! 
Dan, Renee, Adam, Olivia and her boyfriend Frankie, and Olya and her boyfriend Matt all went to Dave and Busters to celebrate Olya's 20th birthday.  I asked the girls to take some photos.  I wanted photos of Olya since it was HER birthday!  The only one who took any photos at Dave and Busters was Olya so she wasn't in any of them!  Then they all came back here for presents, ice cream and cake! Olya seemed very happy about her birthday celebration and I am thankful for that.  I had the table set and everything ready when they got back home.  First we did the cake and ice cream, then Olya opened her gifts.


She had already picked out her $50 dollars worth of clothes.  I also gave  her another $20 in a card and some jewelry.   
My three beautiful daughters.  I tell everyone that they have 3 different fathers!  That always cracks Olivia up.  They have three different birth fathers but only 1 dad.
 
Then I gave her a butterfly necklace that Dan bought for me on June 2, 1982, when Amy was born.  I had always intended to give it to Amy but Olya has the exact same birthday so I gave it to her.  it is an opal butterfly on a 14 kt gold chain.  Olya seemed very touched and I knew she would cherish the necklace.  She got a gift card for a "spin"(synonym for torture) class from Renee and Adam.  Who wants  a birthday gift that involves physical exercise spinning on stationary bikes?? Not me, that's for sure. That would be crazy! But that was exactly what Olya told Renee that she wanted for her birthday!!! Matt's family also sent gifts for Olya, which was very thoughtful of them. They gave her an Alex and Annie Phillies bracelet wrapped in a beautiful cloth bag.  Matt told Olya seriously that he had  to have the bag back and she handed it to him.  He was only joking! Olya loves the Phillies and loves Alex and Annie bracelets. Matt gave Olya lots of clothes.  He said "I hope they fit because I guessed at the size."  Adam told Matt that he should have tried on the clothes.  And Matt said  "I did."  We all cracked up and he said, "let me explain." He said that he got her lots of V neck shirts and he didn't want them to be low cut or show any cleavage so he put them on over his white T-shirt!  We were all cracking up as he was telling the story. His mom was with him at American Eagle and she judged if the shirt had too much cleavage! Olivia kept laughing saying she wishes she was with him when he was trying on "female" shirts in the store!! Olya loved all the clothes and was thrilled wit her gifts.  She got jewelry and hair products from Olivia with Olivia's oral instructions on how to apply the hair products!

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
