Day 125 of 365 Days of Being Thankful
Today I am thankful for the goose and gander who are living in my yard. The goose is usually on her nest which is just below where they are standing. The gander paces back and forth all day long protecting her. I took the photo at the top of the yard and zoomed in because the gander is NOT a nice fellow! Dan walked some scrap wood down to his burn pile and the gander was honking and hissing and flying towards him. Dan yelled at him and the gander stopped heading towards him. It was funny to watch! The gander thinks he owns the yard for now! He honks all day long when deer or any other animals are in the yard. I can't wait to see the goslings!
I did some yardwork today pulling weeds. I am thankful for my yard but I am not thankful for the weeds! Yardwork is a lot of work! When my students complained about homework, I would say to them that it is called homework for a reason, it's not called homefun. I guess that is also why yardwork is called yardwork and not yardfun. When our mowing service is here, Dan gives the workers $20 to pick up the branches and debris in the yard.
Later I am meeting my friend Priscilla. We are going to a neighborhood yard sale near where she lives. I am always thankful to spend time with Priscilla.
Olya has been cleaning her room and closets all day long. She has been sorting her college supplies to see what she is keeping or getting rid of. She is such an organized, and motivated worker. Olya will be successful in life because she is self-motivated to always do her best. Nittany never really got to know Olya because she was away at school when we got him. He warmed up to her over all her breaks This time he had to get use to her again. She was dying to hold him and cuddle him but he didn't want any part of her yesterday; he hissed at her twice when she went near him. Tonight he finally let her hold him and cuddle him.
I had posted about Alan Pedersen before. My friend Pricilla and I, as well as many other bereaved parents from our night time group, paid to put our daughters' names on the van. He uses the funds to help support his travels, I like when he posts updates as to where he has taken Amy and Krissy on his tour. Alan is driving cross the country bringing his message of hope and healing to the grieving. His tour is called Angels Across the USA.
Alan Pedersen is an award-winning speaker, songwriter and recording artist. His inspirational message of hope and his music have resonated deeply with those facing loss or adversity in their lives. Since the death of his 18 year old daughter Ashley in 2001, Alan has traveled to more than 1300 cities ...speaking and playing his original music.
He writes about where he takes our angels. "The Angels and I visited Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park on back-to-back days." He also went to the Naval Academy and Maryland. He is on his way to Cape Cod. have been o n the m this week ... tonight we will be on Cape Cod
