Day 91 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

Today I am thankful that Olivia's dental implants are ok and she isn't in too much pain. She was so nervous about the oral surgery so she was up at 5 am and started cleaning the basement. She even scrubbed the basement steps.  Olivia used my Bravajet automatic floor cleaner.  It worked great for the first half of the basement floor which is a tile floor.  After she tried to use it again, it just stopped working.  I charged the battery but still nothing.  I can't function without my Roomba and Bravajet mopper!  Olivia was not this nervous for her spinal fusion surgery! I am not sure why she was so scared, she is usually fearless. I think it is because she remembers the pain of having her wisdom teeth removed.  She was so swollen and in excruciating pain from that procedure.
Of course, she is on Vicodin and  prescription Ibuprofen.  She kept ice bags on her face for the first few hours, then sort of stopped doing that.  She is in pain but it is manageable and I am glad about that.  I hope her face is not too swollen tomorrow.  She looked like a chipmunk with loaded cheeks after the wisdom teeth extraction. Those implants were pricey, we already paid $1500 for the bone grafts and pre-op  appointments.  Today we paid another $4,000 for the two implants.  The oral surgeon screws the implant to the bone.  It goes right through a nerve!
After a few weeks, Olivia will go to our family doctor and he will whiten her teeth and then make the new teeth to attach to the implants. I feel bad for Olivia, it is one physical thing after another for her. It looks like a real screw and is about an inch in length.  The procedure took about an hour for the two implants. The oral surgeon sent Olivia the photos so she could see exactly what is in her mouth. It looks so painful. Olivia has screws and a metal plate in her back from her spinal fusion, now she also has metal screws in her mouth.  I hope she doesn't set off the metal detectors at the airport when we travel.
She wanted to stay out and shop to keep her mind off of the pain. We dropped off her prescription for pain pills and went to the craft store.  First we went to AC Moore and bought crafts to do.  We bought a few cans of silver, teal and black spray paint and candles.
Olivia is making a GLAM ROOM in one of the rooms in the basement.  Her colors are silver, black and teal.  She is going to practice doing makeup on herself and friends and do a blog or youtube videos while she is in cosmetology school.  Of course, I am funding the setup of the glam room. I am agreeing to fund it because it is career related.  Dan came to the dental appointment and then waited at home until we were done at the craft store.  The three of us went to the thrift shop after we picked up the prescription  pain pills and we bought some chairs, picture frames, and vases. Olivia wants to glam up the vases by spraying them and putting lots of glitter on them.
We spent about $85 there.  Olivia has a really good eye for thrift shop bargains.  I let her buy anything she wants there because I feel like it is a donation to the disabled and helps fund jobs for the disabled.  We stopped at Acme to finish getting a few items for Easter brunch. Then we went home and unloaded our supplies. We picked Olya up at the train station at 7 pm and then we went out to dinner. I am so thankful that Olya is home for the weekend! We had Chinese food at a little restaurant not far from the train station.  Then we went to Burlington Coat Factory because apparently we didn't get enough for the GLAM ROOM.  Olivia found a chair that can be raised and lowered, a small four drawer chest, a wall hanging and a few other incidentals.  We got a lot less at Burlington but spent over twice as much as we did at the thrift store. I totally forgot that we were in my car and not Dan's much larger car.  The girls had to ride home with the chair and a few other items across their laps! Olivia should have been exhausted but when we got home at 9:30 she went back down into the basement to work on her room! At 11:30 she decided she was tired and went to bed.
