Day 84 of 365 Days of being Thankful

I am so thankful for the nice ordinary day I had today!  Olivia and I went to her dental implant specialist. She is getting her two implants on Friday next week.  Olivia was born without two top teeth, she wears a retainer with two fake teeth on it.  On each side of her front to teeth she has a space where a tooth should be. Since she didn't have the teeth, no bone ever grew in that spot so she had to get bone grafts first.  Now the area is ready.  I am only worried because she always gets every side effect that goes with any medical procedure.  After the dental surgeon appointment, Olivia and I went to the gym and walked on the treadmills and chatted.  I hate to exercise but it is fun if you have someone to chat with. After the exercise, we went to Renee's to visit her dog, Sandy. Renee is in South Africa so Sandy is alone a lot. Adam told us that it was fine to go over any time and play with Sandy.  She was really happy to see Olivia and was sort of happy to see me!  We have a key to Renee's house but Olivia texted Adam and told him we were going over to visit Sandy.  If we let her out, he doesn't have to rush home.  Then we went to Acme.  Whenever I take Olivia food shopping with me, I spend a fortune.  She likes expensive meats and snacks. She even picks out new cleaning products!  There were candles, sodas, magazines, juices, and cheeses in the cart when  we checked out.  I didn't even see her put those items in the cart!! I spent over $300.  I love when we have a house full of food, especially when Olivia shops because she buys junk food that I never buy when I shop alone. When no one is around, I hear the junk food calling my name! We came home, unloaded, etc.  Olivia went on a job interview at a spa. I did a few chores and then Dan came home.
For Christmas, Olivia asked for a gold cross. Through her teen years, she always liked sterling silver jewelry but now she likes gold jewelry. We like buying the sterling silver jewelry because it was so much cheaper! We bought her a diamond and 14k  gold cross on an 18 inch gold chain which she always wears. But she also wears a gold heart on an 18 inch gold chain and they keep getting tangled.  I am afraid the chains will break when they are intertwined and she will lose the two pendants.
So the three of us went to Kohl's and found a 16 inch chain for Olivia. Kohl's was not crowded at all.  It was so nice to find what we wanted rather quickly and be able to check out without a line! I had a $10 off of fifty dollars coupon and a 30% off coupon.  The chain started off at $200 dollars and we wound up paying about $51 for it.  And I got  a $10 Kohl's cash to use next week so it was like paying only $41 for the chain! Now the two necklaces look pretty together and hang nicely on her neck.
Of course I will probably buy more things when I go back to spend the $10 Kohl's cash next week!  The Kohl's cash lures me into the store and then I buy other things.
After Kohl's we decided to go to Big Lots.  We love that store!
We always come out with a cartful of stuff we don't need!  Olivia got more candles! I did need and find a new pot for the plant that Adam's father had given me and I also bought a few bags of potting soil.  I hope I don't kill the thing when I transfer it into the new pot. While we were out, Olivia got a phone call and was offered a job that she had interviewed for this afternoon at a  great salon and spa in another township about 15 minutes away from where we live.  She also got an email asking her to come in for an interview at a really nice hair salon right up the street from us.  That would work out better because she and Olya share a car in the summer.  But it is better to take a bird in the hand than two in the bush! And there is no guarantee that she'll get the job at the closer salon.  I don't know what she'll decide to do.  Then we got home and Olivia ditched us and went to a friend's house! Dan and I watched MASH and Hogan's Heroes Those shows remind me so much of my dad,  he loved those two shows.   But it was a really nice ordinary day and I am thankful for that! People don't realize how thankful they should be to spend an ordinary day with their children.  We who have lost a child definitely realize how thankful we are to have ordinary days and wish we still had them with our beloved deceased child.
