Day 66 of 365 Days of Being Thankful
Today I am thankful that we visited the 9/11 memorial museum. It is very sad to see the stories about the victims. I remember that day so clearly. 2001 was the year that Amy died. I think about those people all the time. I think that horrific incident taught our county about grief. I remember watching the first tower burning on TV and I watched the second plane hit. I kept thinking Oh my God, so many families will know a new life filled with grief and sadness.
It is difficult to explain to anyone else. The museum has stories about each victim. I remember all the signs posted on poles and buildings looking for lost loved ones. Lots of those signs are in the museum. It is a very somber place to be When you look at the wall with photos of every victim, it is emotionally overwhelming. One lady in New Jersey had a sign on her front yard listing the number of days since 9/11 passed and Bin Laden not being caught. It was 230 days until Bin Laden was killed on May second 2011. That sign is in the museum. When you look at the wreckage from the towers it almost brings you to your knees. Lots of the phone calls from victims play as they were calling their loved ones to tell them they loved them. It is almost impossible to believe , yet we all know it happened Wallets, lipstick tubes, key rings, shoes and other burned articles from the tragedy are encased in glass. Every item belonged to someone at one times. There were heartbreaking letters written by children talking about their parent who died. Every person who died has loved ones who are suffering and missing them has a story to tell and their loved ones are trying to tell their stories for them.
The restaurant right next to our hotel has great food. It has a huge buffet as well as made to order food. We got take out for our late lunch
It was fabulous. Olya and I purchased the tickets at the box office on Sunday night for tonight’s show. We told the guy Tuesday night show and he offered us several seat options. We chose four seats together on the main floor. We never looked at the tickets that he printed and put in an envelope. Olya put them in her zipper pocket. When we got to the theater, we found out that our tickets were for Wednesday night. We went to the box office and traded the tickets in for tonight’s show. We were in cushiony chairs in the back of the last row. The seats were high and comfy. We loved where we sat!
Of course they had to have snacks which they got at intermission while I went to the restroom. Three sodas, one water, three bags of chips, one pack of M&M, and one pack of Twizzlers for a grand total of $60. But I am thankful that we all saw the play together and had the snacks. The performers were fantastic.
I am so happy we went to the play Olya is worried about the snow tonight and tomorrow so we are getting up early and seeing if we can get an earlier train
