Day 47 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

Today I am thankful that my friend Carol, also a bereaved mom, sent me the link to this beautiful song by Brad Paisley. Carol and her husband and daughters started a chapter of Bereaved Parents USA.  She runs meetings twice a month. There are actually quite a few bereaved dads in the group now.  As I am computer illiterate, I don't know how to download it so I copied and pasted the link.  I hope it works. If not, go on youtube.com and type in the name of the song and Brad Paisley. You'll be glad you did!  It's a heart wrencher of a song but it is beautiful. The music, lyrics, and video are so touching. I would be really thankful if someone cold tell me how to copy and paste a link from youtube.com     Don't hold your breath about the link working, to save time, just go to you.tube.com

I did copy and paste the link and it worked!

The video starts off showing the name AMY in a sunflower.  That was unexpected and choked me up, but I loved seeing her name.  The people holding the photos of their loved ones in the video was quite moving. You can just tell by the look on their faces how much their loved one is loved and missed.  I will never forget how people cradled and held the photos of their loved ones after 9/11.  The news stations and newspapers and magazines and internet posted lots of photos of the victims and their families were often holding photos of their deceased loved one. Amy died a few months before 9/11 so I knew exactly how the family members felt about the loss of their loved ones.  Having a nation's support, I am sure,  helped those families immensely.  Those pictures are forever etched in my mind. Most people lose their loved ones at different time and it is often very lonely.  I think that is why support groups began.  I know that I find comfort in being with bereaved parents, especially bereaved moms. who understand how I feel.  An impact on a nation must have helped the 9/11 families realize how hard citizens grieved for what happened to those heroes and to our country. I think of those victims often.  I also think of the Columbine families. Those poor kids were just in school living a normal school day and they lost their lives.  And the poor elementary kids from Sandy Hook were just going through a regular normal school day.   And now another school shooting happened in a high school in Florida.  None of this violence has ever helped anything. I listened to Trump yakking about how kids shouldn't be afraid or worried. I wouldn't put any trust in anything he has to say.  His son is protected by secret service.  Kids and parents are going to be afraid and worried, violence has not stopped in schools. There are too many innocent lives lost.

When I Get Where I'm Going

When I get where I'm going
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly
I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here
I'm gonna walk with my grandaddy
And he'll match me step for step
And I'll tell him how I missed him
Every minute since he left
Then I'll hug his neck
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here
So much pain and so much darkness
In this world we stumble through
All these questions I can't answer
So much work to do
But when I get where I'm going
And I see my Maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of His amazing grace
Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
Hallelujah
I will love and have no fear
When I get where I'm going
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
