Day 44 of 365 Days of Being Thankful



   Today I am thankful for my Kitty Valentine from my friend Debbie's granddaughter Brielle. I always get a warm heart hug feeling when I open a package from Debbie because I know Brielle made something for me. I have not been disappointed yet! Debbie's dining room table has become a craft hub. Brielle tells Debbie that she knows I love her crafts and they can't mail a package until she makes something for me!
       Brielle loves to do crafts and she is quite good at them as you can see! Brielle is about 5 or 6.  Debbie is also a bereaved mom and I am so glad she has Brielle in her life because Brielle is so joyful. Debbie's son Pete and my daughter Amy both died in 2001 as teenagers. We hope they are together, along with the children of my other bereaved mom friends.
       And Brielle shares her joyfulness with me! She sends me her crafts every holiday.  I really look forward to her crafts.  My daughter Amy loved to do crafts too so I think seeing Brielle's crafts reminds me of all the fun I had doing crafts with Amy.

      Debbie and I send each other small packages each holiday.  We always include something for our deceased children's graves.  That might sound weird to some people but it is just our normal lives as bereaved moms.  At Halloween, as a joke,  I sent fur lined handcuffs for Debbie's husband Vinny and sent a note that said.....maybe this will be your lucky night!  I didn't know that Brielle would open the box.  She told Debbie that it was funny that I sent her Poppy handcuffs for Halloween because he wasn't dressing up as a cop or anything!  Debbie and her husband are on vacation in the Dominican Republic right now.  Debbie is too funny for words!  This is the photo and message she sent me!!

        Debbie and I wish we never had cause to meet but I am so thankful she is in my life.

            Today I am thankful for the wonderful day I had on Sunday with my best friend Priscilla, and later with Dan.  I got up and went to a flea market in a close by shopping center.   I stopped at a Giant food store to get a flower for Priscilla's daughter's grave. I checked out and the male cashier asked me if I was Olivia's mother. He said and you have another daughter who was a year behind us, right?  He graduated with Olivia.  He asked me if she was still  at Penn State, what she was up to, etc.  I didn't expect that only because I was about 30 minutes away from home.  He told me that he had to drop out of the trade school he was in because he was in a bad motorcycle accident and has a metal rod in his leg and pins and screws in his collar bone and shoulder. I am not a fan of motorcycles!  I think they are so dangerous, especially because riders don...

Day 77 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

       Today is St Patty's Day! Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!  This isn't a holiday that we usually ceIebrate because Dan and I are not big drinkers.  I don't drink at all, maybe a sip of champagne at a wedding but that is it. Today I am thankful  that Olivia and I are going to the thrift store. I love going to thrift stores. I absolutely need nothing but I always find something there.  My youngest daughter Olya is a great thrift store shopper, she always finds new name brand clothing. I guess if you're pretty and thin, you look good in anything! My girls could wear paper bags and look good! Since it is St Patrick's Day, the thrift shop is giving 17% off of purchases. Day 363 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

          Today I am thankful that we are having a good time on our vacation in Texas!! We didn't have any set plans and just decided to do things as we had time.  Dan really wanted to visit NASA so we did that and we all enjoyed the visit.  Time just keeps moving forward in life and it is the simple things and shared moments that mean the most.  This was the MOST crowded place we went to on our trip. After Nasa we decided to head to Galveston.  We found a great place to tour.  It was called the Bishop's Palace. It was a beautiful historical house that was once owned by a very rich couple, Josephine and Walter Gresham, and later owned by the Catholic archdiocese of Galveston and became the Bishop's home.  The woodwork inside was magnificent and breathtaking!  Olivia and Olya really enjoyed touring the home.
