Day 4 of 365 days of being thankful
Today I am thankful for the gift of my daughter Renee! When I was pregnant with Renee, I kept telling Dan that I hoped he had better been thinking pink when I got pregnant. I was certain that Renee was a boy because Dan is one of four boys and his brother's wives had had mostly boys. I felt fortunate that my second born Amy was a girl and I wanted another one! when Renee was born, we were shocked when the doc said..."it's a girl!" And Dan said "And she has hair!" Our first two were pretty bald! Renee has always been an adorable little girl and a beautiful young woman. She has to live with the loss of her older sister, Amy. Renee was almost 13 when Amy died and it is difficult to understand the enormity of the grief unless it happens to you. There aren't enough words in the dictionary that could adequately describe the loss.
Renee was in the gifted program at school. She was a talented and gifted musician. She was named "most musical" in her high school yearbook and she won the English award at graduation. Renee has a great voice, is musically talented and is very pretty! Renee is pretty on the inside and the outside. Renee makes friends wherever she goes.
Renee is happily married and is in PA school. Renee and her husband Adam just bought their first house! She taught for a few years and decided she wanted to work in the medical field. When Dan and I told Renee that we were planning to adopt, she was extremely supportive. I don't even think Dan and I really understood what we were doing because we were still functioning in a cloud of grief surrounding Amy's death, but Renee was all for it. The best thing about having a daughter is that you always get to have a best friend. I think that Renee looks more like a Fledderman than my side of the family but my facebook page always tags her as me in photos!
Renee is in PA school right now. She has to do several medical rotations. Right now she is doing a mental health rotation in DE. One of my best friends is her mentor for this rotations. Renee says she feels like I am there while she is working because my friend Nancy is so much like me. I have known Nancy for over thirty years! My favorite saying is....the best predictor of future behavior is past and/or current behavior! She said those same words came out of Nancy's mouth. Renee has always liked Nancy but never knew how intelligent and how knowledgeable Nancy is in the mental health field. Renee is loving this medical rotation!

Renee married into a very nice family. Adam is close to his two brothers and gets along well with his parents. His parents are lovely people! When we met them for the the wedding rehearsal. Adam's father, Walid, said to us "goodnight family!" They all came to Olya's graduation party. I wished they lived closer but they don't.
