Day 13 of 365 days of being thankful

Today I woke up to Dan telling me that we had a problem with out hot water heater.  He had run out of hot water while he was showering.  I have to take a shower everyday! I am anal about that.  I was thinking, jeez, I don't think I am going to find anything to be thankful about today! I called our plumber, he came over and replaced our hot water heater! I am thankful I had hot water to shower this afternoon.  While I was waiting for him, my friend Jo called me.  She called me to tell me how much she enjoyed reading my blog.  I am so thankful for the phone call, it really uplifted my day. Jo is also a bereaved mom and a member of the book club! She is the nicest person ever! I felt so much happier after the phone call!  It really is amazing that the things that make people feel good are usually free things such as a kind word, a smile, a compliment, and/or a hug. Give me a good friend over a Coach purse any day!  A few months ago I was walking out of the gym.  It was raining so I held the door for the person coming in. She said to me, "thanks so much, I just moved here from CA and no one ever holds doors open, but here, everyone does.  Thanks again" It was such a little thing on my part, but she really appreciated it. And when I was at Giant yesterday the gentleman behind me allowed the elderly person behind him to go in front of him because the elderly man only had two items..  I did the same thing. and allowed the elderly person to go in front of me.  He was so thankful to both of us.  It was just a little thing but meant a lot to the elderly man who didn't have to stand that long. I think that kindness takes on a life of it's own. The lady in front f me handed me a ten dollar coupon after she saw the elderly man thanking me! You always get back more when you give.
