Day 336 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

         Today I am thankful for Dan getting replacement bulbs for the Christmas village that Olivia set up.
It looks so cute at night with only those lights in the kitchen. We had a lot of problems finding the bulbs.  We went to Boscovs, Target, Walmart, and Home Depot.  We finally got them at Home Depot!
          Today it is rainy and my leg is killing me!  I think that the weather really affects sciatica. I am going to a chiropractor on Monday.  Maybe that will be the answer for me!! This week I am also going to see a new pain specialist and an alternative treatment doctor on a different day. The alternative treatment deals with radio wave frequency. Eventually something has to work!!
         Dan and I took a car trip to Ollie's, a discount store.  We live about an hour away.  We just bought shampoo, paper products, etc. Yesterday when we were out shopping, we got chick- fil-a for  lunch.  I can't resist fast food when Dan gets it so I told him NO FAST FOOD today. He went and got a fish sandwich later from McDonalds so I had him get fries for me.  All of that fast food just sticks to my body!! Instead of fast food today,  I defrosted steaks and slow cooked them, they were delicious!

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
