Day 335 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

        Today I am thankful that our Christmas tree is up and decorated!  Olivia and I decorated the tree yesterday!




The tree has lights that blink white and then blink blue and green  On the tree are many different ornaments. One year I bought a craft package of snowmen and the girls and I put the snowmen together.
Then we had each person decorate the back of the snowman and we all had to guess who drew each back picture.  I enjoy looking at each ornament and remembering when we made it or purchased it. When we first adopted Olivia, all of her ornaments were pink or cheer ornaments.  Olya's ornaments are more diverse. This year Olya chose a Minion ornament, she is obsessed with minions!

        So far I have wrapped every gift I have ordered or purchased!  I put a lot of gifts in Christmas gift bags this year!  Today Dan and I unshopped!  We returned a few things I ordered online, I just bought way too much! We went to Macys and I bought a beautiful sweater and shirt for my mother-in-law. I was going to buy her a nightgown but they all looked so long!  She is very tiny and petite.  I went in the petite department and got an extra small shirt and extra small sweater for her.

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
