Day 281 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

Today I am thankful that Dan and I met Olivia and Frankie at a local orchard and pumpkin patch. They went earlier because they wanted to go on a hayride and I wasn't sure I could do that or stand in line for a long time. This orchard has the best Halloween decorations.  They were so crowded, I think because the weather was so nice today!

Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater

They have the best caramel and chocolate apples.  At least that is what I remembered from last year(always about the food).  Olivia went in the store and got two for me...pricey but supposedly delicious.  They were $7 each. I couldn't wait to get home to eat one of them!
ALL ABOUT THE FOOD!

On Friday I had given her ten dollars to get one for me because she and Frankie were supposedly going to the pumpkin patch then.  Today Dan gave her money to pay for them.  So, it just proves that everyday is give money to your daughter day around here! The apple was really good but my mind remembered it being much better than it was.  I guess we build up our expectations in our minds!(especially about food) I sat on a bench most of the time but it was fun watching all of the people and seeing all of the Halloween decorations. I am thankful for a nice afternoon.
We haven't let our new cat Rosie outside.  I think she is about 6 to 7 months old now. Olivia has taken her outside but holds her.  She has been dying to get out there because she sees Nittany outside all of the time.  The other night she ran out the door when Dan was letting Nittany out.  She loved being outside and stayed in our yard!  We have to check and make sure she has had her rabies shot before we let her out again! I think she had the shot but I want to be sure.
Olya called today!  She is doing really well in school, I am so proud of her! She is playing flag football, she played last year and was the only girl!  This year there is one girl on every team! She called and chatted in the late afternoon then had to study and then go play flag football.  Olya is pretty, smart, kind, and loves sports.  She loves to play them and to watch them! Olya could be any guy's dream date!  Last night around 11:45, I was in bed sound asleep and heard ringing.  I had left my portable phone in the bathroom. My room is pitch black and I hear "call from Olya."  So I get out of bed, hobbling, shuffling and limping and am trying to get to the phone. Running is impossible but I was shuffling quickly!!I was thinking, OMG, what happened?  Is she hurt?  Is she sick?? I get the phone and call her back.  I said "Olya, did you just call?"  She said "yes, I did!  I didn't think everyone would be asleep."  I asked, "do you know what time it is.?"  Olya said "11:45."  I said "what did you want?"  Olya said "I wanted to tell you that I got a touchdown in flag football and we won the game."  I started to laugh.  I said, "OMG,  Olya! I thought something was wrong, but congratulations, proud of you!"  Amy use to call me in the middle of the night to tell me about her homework or how much she had to study and I am so thankful for those phone calls now! Amy never knew what time it was when I would ask her, she would say, I don't know, probably about 11 when it was usually 1:00 a m.  I wish I could still be awoken in the middle of the night with phone calls from Amy.  I think the message is to always be happy to hear from your kids, especially with good news.
Today Dan and I burned some of the debris pile in the backyard.  I had weeders here who cleared out all the weeds, trimmed all the bushes and cut down a few trees!  Now we have to burn all the debris. Dan would like to burn it all at once but I think the piles are way too big and we could burn down the neighborhood! I think we have enough debris to burn down the township!! So if you hear about a neighborhood on the news that had a raging fire, it means Dan started burning the huge piles all together!
