Day 265 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

         Today I am thankful that we are going to visit Olya at college today.  We will take a leisurely drive through the farmlands to get there. Olya is doing really well in school. She is struggling a bit with environmental science.  It is a very difficult course! She has As and Bs in all of her other courses. Olya says she is much happier living in an apartment than in a dorm. Yesterday when she was walking back to her apartment, a girl drove up on the sidewalk and into a fence and ran over a medium sized tree!  Apparently she put on the gas instead of the  brake!  Olya ran over to help her and helped her get out of the car.  She was fine but she ran over a tree which was lodged in the bottom of her car. Olya said the roots of the tree were sticking out of the back of the car. I am so glad that no one got hurt, things can be replaced, people can't be replaced and good health can't be replaced.
      Yesterday Olivia dyed my roots.  She is so good at cosmetology, she really has a gift for it!  Olivia has natural talent in doing hair, nails, and make-up!  Yesterday Dan and I laid her new rug in the GLAM ROOM! I think the room size is about 12' by 14'. Olivia watched a video at school about being a funeral cosmetologist.  Apparently they are paid very well.  Those cosmetologists do the hair and makeup on deceased people at the funeral homes.  I think my friend Candy does that.  I'll have to ask her about it.
Right now her room is a blank canvas! The walls and rug are beige so she can do almost any colors with that! Dan will put up the new ceiling lights she chose and then she can finally start the decorating! I hope she does a Beauty Blog to showcase her talent!
          Dan and I went out and ordered two new couches for our family room.  They were on sale and I really liked them so we bought them.  They were out of stock so we had to pay and order them,  I hope they come in soon!  I will move my current family room couches to the basement and give the basement couches away.  The other day, Big Brothers called and I offered the couches to them but they don't take furniture  They told me to call Habitat for Humanity so I will do that.

          Today I am thankful that we are having a good time on our vacation in Texas!! We didn't have any set plans and just decided to do things as we had time.  Dan really wanted to visit NASA so we did that and we all enjoyed the visit.  Time just keeps moving forward in life and it is the simple things and shared moments that mean the most.  This was the MOST crowded place we went to on our trip. After Nasa we decided to head to Galveston.  We found a great place to tour.  It was called the Bishop's Palace. It was a beautiful historical house that was once owned by a very rich couple, Josephine and Walter Gresham, and later owned by the Catholic archdiocese of Galveston and became the Bishop's home.  The woodwork inside was magnificent and breathtaking!  Olivia and Olya really enjoyed touring the home.

Day 120 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

            Today I am thankful for the wonderful day I had on Sunday with my best friend Priscilla, and later with Dan.  I got up and went to a flea market in a close by shopping center.   I stopped at a Giant food store to get a flower for Priscilla's daughter's grave. I checked out and the male cashier asked me if I was Olivia's mother. He said and you have another daughter who was a year behind us, right?  He graduated with Olivia.  He asked me if she was still  at Penn State, what she was up to, etc.  I didn't expect that only because I was about 30 minutes away from home.  He told me that he had to drop out of the trade school he was in because he was in a bad motorcycle accident and has a metal rod in his leg and pins and screws in his collar bone and shoulder. I am not a fan of motorcycles!  I think they are so dangerous, especially because riders don't have to wear helmets.  Then I met up with Priscilla. Day 77 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

       Today is St Patty's Day! Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!  This isn't a holiday that we usually ceIebrate because Dan and I are not big drinkers.  I don't drink at all, maybe a sip of champagne at a wedding but that is it. Today I am thankful  that Olivia and I are going to the thrift store. I love going to thrift stores. I absolutely need nothing but I always find something there.  My youngest daughter Olya is a great thrift store shopper, she always finds new name brand clothing. I guess if you're pretty and thin, you look good in anything! My girls could wear paper bags and look good! Since it is St Patrick's Day, the thrift shop is giving 17% off of purchases. So I am sure we will come home with plenty of stuff we don't need.       Today was Joe's birthday.  When we called him we asked what my granddaughter Kaylee wanted for her birthday in April.  She will be 7.
