Day 254 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

         Today I am so thankful for having my phone working and for internet service!!  We lost power on Sunday night during the time we were asleep.  We had  no internet or phone service in the morning when we got up even though the power was back on!!  I had to try to use my cellphone to call Comcast but my cellphone has sporadic service at my house!!  I kept getting disconnected! It was quite discouraging to get disconnected after waiting on the phone for ten to fifteen minutes and being the next person in line to get an agent!!! Twice I heard "you are next in line" and my cell lost service!!! Finally I got through  and they tried a few things that didn't work! They then  told me to go to the Infinity store and get a new modem and trade in my old one. That took over an hour! After that,  Olivia and I hooked it up, and we weren't sure we did it correctly! Then we had to call Comcast again to activate the service, it took hours to get our service back!!!I am so thankful to have my internet and phone service back!! You don't realize how much you miss the internet until you don't have it!

While we were trying to hook up the internet service, Olivia's friends from school called her to meet them at Dairy Queen! Earlier she had told me that she was really tired but somehow she found the energy to go meet them!  Strange how that happens!!
Olivia used my car on Sunday evening to go to Frankie's.  On the way back home she called me and told me that my dashboard displayed that the front tire pressure was low and needed air. I wanted her to go back to Frankie's house and get him or his dad to follow her to a gas station and put in air. Of course she didn't do that and just drove home about 30 minutes.  This morning I took the car to our dealer and they checked the tire pressure and fixed it.  Then they told me that my car was overdue for inspection so I am thankful that I stopped there. In the meantime Renee called me because she was in the area and wanted to hang out at our house so she came and picked me up at the car dealer.  I left my car and they inspected it!!
Olivia and Frankie cooked breakfast together on Sunday.  Olivia told Frankie's mom about it when she was over there for dinner on Sunday evening,  His mom was quite shocked that Frankie cooked! With Iphones it is quite easy to look up recipes!  I think Frankie's mom does all of the cooking and cleaning at  his house.  Olivia is not one to wait on any guy so it's good he got up and started cooking with her or he might have been VERY hungry!  And Frankie did all of the dishes!! I was quite impressed that my kitchen wasn't a mess when I got home!
I stopped at CVS again yesterday to pick up meds.  The summer candy was 75% off!!  I got a three pound bag of Sour Patch Kids candy for Olivia to take to school to share with her friends! They all told her to thank me, they appreciated the candy! Fortunately, I didn't like a lot of the choices but they had Hershey Kisses that kept calling my name.  They were insistent that I buy the two bags of them so I just had to purchase the candy! Who can resist a chocolate kiss??  As soon as I got home, the Hershey Kisses insisted that I eat some of them so I listened and had to eat them! 

Look at how cute these Kisses are!! Cute, chocolate,and delicious all in one! Three positives!!!

Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter.
The pharmacist at the counter asked the older boy, 'Son, how old are you?'
'Eight', the boy replied.
The man continued, 'Do you know what these are used for?'
The boy replied, 'Not exactly, but they aren't for me. They're for him. He's my brother. He's four."
"Oh, really?" the pharmacist replied with a grin.
"Yes." the boy said. "We saw on TV that if you use these, you would be able to swim, play tennis and ride a bike. Right now, he can't do none of those." 😂😂

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
