Day 221 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

         Today I am thankful that Renee appreciates nature and the outdoors as much as Dan and I do!  We raised our kids with camping!  Our two adult children still camp with us and with others.  Renee and Adam often take Sandy, their dog, camping!  She loves it! Renee stayed overnight last night because Adam was away for work.  She came to board game night with Sandy and they both stayed overnight!  Sandy is a sweet dog but we kept her away from Nittany and Rosie. She got a look at Rosie and her ears perked up. Renee said that is her mode when she sees a rabbit so Sandy thought Rosie was dinner in the making! We separated Sandy and the cats.  Nittany has been around Sandy before, he just stays up high and away from her.  But he still comes in the room when she is in there and she is a huge dog! When Renee got up this morning, she told me that she enjoyed watching the birds at  feeder. I really love Sandy so I was happy that Renee brought her.
     









There are so many varieties and it is like watching a live National Geographic show.  Renee knows a lot of the birds by their calls.  I told her that my birds don't care about me knowing their calls, they just care about me feeding them!  Priscilla stopped over last Sunday because she had left her purse here the night before and she also enjoyed watching the birds!  Olya brings home the leftover bagels from her job.  The birds love the bagels.  They are gone in a day or two. I am thankful that I get to watch nature in all the various and vibrant colors, actions, movements, and soothing, joyful sounds and loud noisy sounds!.  This is most definitely God's work! God's glory of nature is a gift to me and anyone else who wants to enjoy it and I am thankful for it.
          Olya went to a spin cycle class today with Renee?  WHO pays $30 to cycle a stationary bike until  their legs feel like they are falling off and they are covered with sweat??? WHO PAYS FOR PAIN??? They are crazy!!!Count me out of that!!!! But I am really thankful that they do things together and enjoy them!!  Olya said the leader never let them sit down. I would have had to stage a coup d' e'tat and overthrown the leader!
         I got my cortisone shot today!  Other than giving natural childbirth without any pain meds, this was the worst pain I have ever had!! He said he knew he hit the right raw nerve because I kept screaming. I could not stand up for a few hours. It is awful and I still am in pain several hours later. I am taking pain meds but they only take the edge off. I am thankful for the pain meds.  They said it can take up to 2 weeks to work. Three people who got their shots after me sat for about ten minutes, drank some juice,  and were then on their way out the door! They made me stay longer and then figured I could go home and lie down and rest after about an hour or two. The doctor actually came out and said "sorry" to me! I am in the same or worse pain. They had to wheel me out in a wheelchair and Dan had to basically drag/lift me into the house.  I wrote this blog a day in advance because I am having surgery tomorrow and maybe won't be up to writing,

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
