Day 197 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

        The BAT saga continues!! Image result for image flying bats Today I am thankful that I am not getting a rabies shot!! The exterminators that I called told me to go get rabies shots because I could have been bitten while I was sleeping. My doc said I would have to go to the ER because he doesn't have the rabies meds.  He also said he thinks I would know if I got bit!  I agree so I am not going to the ER!  I am totally on edge looking for bats in my house! When we got home yesterday, the curtains in my dining room were pulled down and the rod came off of the wall.  It definitely was my cat because there are pulls in the drapes.  But the question is.......was he chasing a bat????  He has never done that before!! I tread lightly into every room I enter. I don't know why I think that makes a difference!   Olya told me that she had work today at 6:00 am so I thought Dan had taken her.  I was cleaning and baking and decorating for Olivia's birthday. Olivia wants an ice cream cake so I made brownies to go with the ice cream cake. This will be cake number 2 for her real birthday which is tomorrow!  All of a sudden about noon,  I heard noise and then the kitchen doors opened.  I just about lost it..............could have had a little bit of brown on my underwear, I think!! I guess I thought bats could open doors!!Image result for image flying bats Olya's boss called her off because he scheduled too many workers.  I never knew she was home the entire morning!! I would have woken her up long before noon if I knew she was home.

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. The Terminix guy told me that I have mouse activity in my attic so Dan and I will buy traps tomorrow. The second guy told me that sometimes bats just fly around and fin...

Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
