Day 194 of 365 Days of Being Thankful
Today I am thankful that we are heading to Dan's family reunion in Pittsburgh. I am thankful to get away from my bat house!!!.I hope I don't come home to bats flying around the inside of my house!! We're hoping that bat number 2 was also bat number 1. And the bat is dead from being in the garbage disposal. I do not like bats in any way, shape, or form. So if it was only one bat, then it is gone. When Dan got home from work, he wanted to eat first. Olya and I told him to get the bat out first. Once again, e wanted my help. Doesn't he ever learn? I hid in the hallway behind a louvered door. Frankie stayed in the kitchen with Dan and Olya. Even as I am typing this, I keep looking over my shoulder for flying bats!! When Dan lifted the bowl, the bat was dead. I made him put on plastic gloves before he touched the bat. It went out in the trash. Hopefully, it is one and done!!
I'll have to do Saturday's post on Sunday unless there is a computer at the hotel. I am not sure what the plans are for the weekend. Fri night is a baseball game but we didn't get tickets because we will get there too late. I baked a cake to take for everyone to sing Happy Birthday to Olivia! We always all go out to dinner on Sat. night so I will take the cake then! Olya and I went to the craft store and got special birthday candles that have colored flames!
It is Olivia's 21st birthday and that is a special birthday. I will take a cake to her Cosmetology school on Tuesday and I will have a cake at our house Tue night after we go out to dinner. Then she is having a birthday party on the weekend so I guess that is another cake! This is the birthday that never ends!! She made the invitation list and invited some of my friends because she thinks they are her friends too! She really does!!This is the second cake I made today. The first one I made from scratch. I found a chocolate cake recipe online. I made it sugar free, fat free, and cholesterol free. I used Splenda instead of sugar, applesauce for oil and egg whites for the eggs. I had the cake pan filled with chocolate batter and ready to go in the oven. I dropped the pan on the open oven door. I kept looking over my shoulder because I was afraid the bat could get loose and climb out from the bowl over the garbage disposal. That stupid bat has me on edge! I have a feeling I am going to dream about bats tonight. I am afraid to go to sleep in my room because that is where the first bat was. And I am afraid to sleep in the family room because it is next to the kitchen and that is where the second bat was! I keep creeping on my tippy toes into each room and looking around before I enter it. The oven door and kitchen floor were a mess! I lost half of the batter. The oven door was hot from preheating and some of the batter got baked on the oven door!! it looked good enough to eat on the door but I didn't peel it ad eat it although I was tempted to! I had to scrub and scrape it off. It was all over everything. It took me about an hour or so to clean it up. So I used the rest of that batter and made cupcakes. I tried one, it was really good. It wasn't sweet but it tasted good. Then I used a box mix and made this chocolate cake! This one is fat free and cholesterol free. This one will taste very sweet, it is loaded with sugar and whipped sugary icing!
Yesterday Olya and I went to get manicures. My Ukrainian daughters love to get manicures. I don't think I ever got a manicure until I was well into my thirties. I did my own nails and hair for my wedding! My girls would get their nails down weekly if I agreed to pay for it. Ever once in awhile I take them for manicures.
I have to mention that I am very thankful for the nice and funny comments that readers have made after reading my blog! Some comments make me almost pee myself! LOL!! I am thankful that I got people to laugh or chuckle after reading my adventures!
Last night I could not sleep! I kept imagining thousands of bats hanging upside down on the rafters in my attic.............not a pretty picture!!!
I woke up every half hour or so and slowly took the pillow off of my head. My room was warm but I still wrapped myself in a blanket cocoon! I guess I think it will protect me from the thousands of bats!!!
