Day 159 of 365 Days of Being Thankful
Today I am so thankful for the lantern launch in memory and honor of our deceased children. This lantern launch was suggested by Adriana in the daytime bereaved moms lunch group. I decided to organize and lead tis group because the original group we joined got too huge and we had to form smaller groups. I get so much our of being with all of these special women.
Adriana got the lanterns on Amazon and we each paid her. They were so nice and only $9.00 each! We tried to find a date that worked for the majority of the moms but it just never seemed to work for everyone. The four of us decided on the date and invited the entire group. Five members and their husbands attended. My friend Deb hosted it at her house. We eventually said the date was last night and everyone was invited to show up. Adriana and I think this should be an annual event !

Deb's husband David is such a nice guy! Dan and I had dinner with Deb and David a few weeks ago.
She did a photo slide show set to music following the age progression of our kids. It was very moving and hard to watch. I have not looked at many of those pictures of Amy for a very long time. I remember the event of each one of the photos. I am fine with the pictures of Amy in frames around the house. But I cry when I see photos that I haven't seen in years and years. Deb did a fabulous job, the slide show was lovely. Behind Deb's house is a huge open field. It was the perfect place for a lantern launch! We all walked down to the field and lit off the lanterns and watched them zip up into the sky and float away. We watched until we couldn't see them anymore. They rise so quickly.
We lit off 6 lanterns. I hope this becomes an annual event because it was awesome!
Yesterday was Dan's and my 43rd wedding anniversary. The time flew by. Dan wanted to go to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. We don't do a big gift thing for anniversaries. We go to dinner and I gave Dan a box of apple puffs and caramel pretzels and he gave me a card and carnations. Perfect gifts!!! Dan, Olivia, Frankie, Olya, and I went to a new Chinese restaurant, The food was really good! Then we went to Acme so I could buy lactose free ice cream. That stuff is so expensive but I have to stay on a lactose free diet. Now I just need to find a decent pizza with dairy free cheese. I can not live without pizza.
