Day 151 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

        Today I am thankful for this birdhouse.
It was made by Dan's father a few years ago.  Dan's father lived until age 100.  He was a fairly good woodworker and made many bird houses, bat houses, and butterfly houses.  He also made whirl a gigs!  This is our last bird house and it is my favorite one!  It even has a little chimney and  front porch!  Dan is going to buy a pole and put this one in the garden with my other ones.  Olivia thinks I have too many bird houses in the garden. I don't think there are too many, either would a bird that was looking for a home.  This will only be the third bird house. I also have a bird bath and a pole with two hanging bird feeders.  I am thankful that I get to watch nature in all God's glory!
          I am so thankful that I am finally caught up on my blog!!!
        Today Olya and I went and got manicures and I also got waxed.  it is so much easier when someone else does the work and it looks so much better!  Tomorrow is Amy's birthday and Olya's birthday. Olya will be 20 and Amy would be 35 if she were still alive. I baked two cakes, one small and one large. I will take the small one to the restaurant in case Adam and Renee can't come back to our house after dinner at the restaurant for ice cream and cake.  Olya wants to go to Dave and Busters tomorrow night for dinner and games.  Her boyfriend Matt is coming today and staying for the weekend.  Olivia's boyfriend Frankie, Olivia,  Renee and Adam are also going to dinner to celebrate with us.  Dan and I will also go to the cemetery  tomorrow for Amy's birthday.  so sad about that.
   Tomorrow is Historical Days in our township Everything is free!  Olya and Matt will go and attend some of the events. I think Matt likes history a lot.  There are some really cool events. They have open houses in old homes and sheep shearing and blacksmithing demonstrations.  There are five historic sites in the National Register of Historic Sites in our township and they will all be open. I am thankful for all of these things, Dan and I are going to go to some of the sites tomorrow!

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
