Day 138 of 365 Days if Being Thankful

       Today I am so thankful that Renee graduated with distinction from PA school.  It was quite an exciting day!We went to the White Coat ceremony in the morning. The PA students each received their white coats with their names monogrammed above the pocket. It was very nice!  It was just amazing to see Renee and all of her friends receive their white coats.  They all looked so happy and so ready to go conquer the medical world! The ceremony was very touching! The class of about 55 students from two campuses was a mostly female class.  I only noticed a handful of males.

  My niece Erica also came to the ceremony.  We went to lunch afterwards with Renee's friends and their families.  The students came from all across America.  We met a student who came from Nevada and another who came from CA! Renee's friends all lived locally. Renee and all of her friends already have job offers with great salaries!  I never knew much about Physician Assistants until Renee entered the program.
After lunch, we went and hung out at a coffee shop for awhile.  Renee's friend Ashley and her family were also there.  For some reason, Ashley's teenage brother came and sat with me on the couch.  Not that I asked, but he told me that he was adopted. His adoptive mom was his Great-Aunt and helped deliver him! I am not sure why people seem to confide in me.  I thought he was about 17 but he was only in 8th grade.  He was very friendly and chatty and told me about the sports he played.  I am not sure why he came to sit with me but I enjoyed his company.  After the lunch and coffee shop, Adam dropped Renee and I back to the school for the graduation ceremony.  Dan had left after lunch to pick up Olivia for the graduation ceremony.  Renee's friend Joelle also came to the graduation ceremony.  She is a real friend because it was a LONG ceremony!

                 MORE BAT NEWS!!   Yesterday another exterminator came.  The day before the exterminator from Terminix told me that he saw some guano, bat feces, in my attic and they could " fix " my problem for a year contract of $1400.  Today another exterminator came, he was in the attic a long time.  He said he didn't see any guano in my attic.  He didn't think the bats were hidden in the eaves like the Terminix guy thought because of the lack of guano! The second guy told me to find a handyman to close up an opening near my top roof siding and see if that works.  If not, he said they can come back and seal up the house for $795.  I think the Terminix guy just wanted me to sign a contract. Day 6 of Being Thankful

   Today I am thankful for my daughter Olya.  We adopted Olya from Ukraine in 2009.. Olya with her bio relatives Olya with a friend at her home in Ukraine  She was ten and a half years old when we adopted her.  My friend Maggie had found her for me in Ukraine,  She knew I wanted to adopt another girl in the 10-11 year old age range. Olivia was driving me crazy, she always wanted to be doing something. She really wanted a sibling!  I told Dan that we needed to adopt another girl close to Olivia's age so she would have a sibling to grow up with. Dan was fine with it, I think he was excited to go back to Ukraine!   Maggie works for Frontier Horizons, a hosting organization that brings orphans to the U.S. and other countries for a cultural experience. Maggie visits orphanages and selects children for hosting. They try to select children who are available for adoption but that isn't always the case.   It really is a pre-adoption...

Day 175 of 365 Days of Being Thankful

     Today I am thankful for the wonderful day we spent yesterday.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate Renee and Adam's birthday with about 25 people!   Adam's parents and his brother Dan and his girlfriend came.  Renee and Adam and his brothers and wives/girlfriends and parents are all going on a trip to Lebanon in August.  Renee is excited because she has never been there! Walid's family, Adam's father, owns a huge hospital in Lebanon. It was nice to see all of them. Renee married into a lovely family!  After lunch we all went back to Renee and Adam's house for a large party.  I am guessing about 50 people were at the party!  There was so much food.  There were trays and trays of wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables.  A huge tray of sushi was demolished in an hour!  I am not a sushi lover or liker so I didn't help eat any of that tray!
