Day 95 of 365 Days of Being Thankful
Today I am thankful for this plant. Who would think I would be grateful for a plant? But I really am! It is the coolest plant to watch grow. It started out as a tiny, limp, sickly looking thing. It was probably about 6-8 inches tall at the time. I don't even know why I picked it up.
I picked up the plant about 7 or 8 years ago on the side of the road at the cemetery. It was in a trash pile at the side of the road. I didn't think it would survive but I brought it home and nursed it back to health. I have transplanted it twice because it has grown so much.
I don't even know what kind of plants are in the pot. For the first time ever, the plant is producing flowers. I just looked it up online and I think it is called a snake plant. This is what I found:Why you want it: It doesn't get much easier than this indoor house plant—also sometimes known as mother-in-law's tongue! It has variegated leaves that grow upright, and some varieties' leaves have yellow or white edges. It has small white flowers that bloom only rarely.
I thought the white flowers might be weeds before I found the information about snake plants online! I almost cut the flowers to put on the table for Easter but I just couldn't do it!There are three flowers right now and they are growing. There are rocks in the planter to stop Nittany from digging and doing his business in the pot. The plant even survived Nittany's bodily "business."
I am mesmerized by the flowers! They are the coolest looking flowers ever. They look like they would be flowers for a fairy or a pixie in a storybook. I guess it doesn't take too much to amuse me! LOL I have low standards for amusing myself. I think giving it plant food has been the magical fix for it!
Work on the GLAM ROOM continues. I left the garage door open to get some of the paint smell out. The plastic drop cloth blew against the leg of the table and ruined it. (My fault, of course, according to Olivia). I went and bought another can of the glittery spray paint for her to fix it! Olivia wants to get letters and hot glue flowers on the letters to spell Olivia. She wants the giant letters. That is a lot of fake flowers and would be expensive so I will look for some flowers in the thrift shops. The Kiss and Makeup sign and the stuff below, we bought at Burlington Coat factory. They have the best prices! I have been bidding on a lighted makeup mirror on Ebay. Those suckers are expensive! Since I paid for college for my other kids and am paying for college for Olya, I don't mind the expense for the GLAM ROOM.
I am almost finished cleaning up from the Easter festivities! I still have to put my good silverware in the box where it belongs. I cleaned and vacuumed the rugs, sprayed the table, washed the good glassware and put it away and just took down the Easter decorations. I went food shopping this morning. I cooked all morning. I prepared everything for Tacos, and also made sloppy Joes, and made hamburgers. It will probably all be gone by tomorrow! Dan had called me and told me he was going to go to Chick Fil A and pick up food for lunch and asked if I wanted anything. I told him I had cooked all morning so he decided against Chick Fil A. That was stupid of me to tell him because I love that place. I should have just said YES, get me chicken and fries.
Olivia is still in a great deal of pain from her implants, she always gets the worst side effects. I never had an implant but my friend Kathy told me it was the worst pain of her life and she would never get another one.
Lastly, I am thankful for the chocolate donuts Dan brought home from Acme. They are my favorite! I had coupons for free donuts from the Acme Monopoly game. I couldn't waste the coupons so Olivia and I just had to eat the donuts! They look pretty and tasted so good!
They were delicious!! Dan came home with more Monopoly pieces and one was for another free donut! I guess I'll just have to suffer through eating another one soon! I watched The Doctors Show a few years ago and they said that if you eat a donut(they didn't specify what kid of donut) everyday for six months, you would gain 9 pounds! So they must be loaded with calories.
If anyone knows of a local handyman, please let me know!
