Day 73 of 365 days of Being Thankful

Today I am thankful that my friend Carol arranged a speaker for our evening bereaved parent's group meeting in April.  I mailed a check today to Carol.  She runs the bereaved parent evening group.  Carol arranged to have a speaker from Compassionate Friends come and speak to our group.  The speakers travel across America and visit 100 cities. She has to pay for their food and lodging so we all have to make a donation. The speaker is a well known grief expert.  His daughter, like Amy, died in 2001. The goal of the speaker's road trip is to touch grieving hearts.
SPECIAL EVENT 😇
DON’T MISS THIS
NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED GRIEF EXPERT

On Monday April 2nd we will be hosting the Angels Across The USA tour. The program will start at 7pm sharp (doors will open at 6:30).
After the program we will host a meet and greet with the presenters and serve refreshments.
This is a very special honor for us as only 100 cities are being visited. The tour was started by Alan Pedersen in 2010. They visited 1300 cities in four years. In 2014 the tour was paused as Alan became the Executive Director of Compassionate Friends for nearly four years. He has restarted the Cross Country tour this year. Alan is one of the country’s top grief experts and a singer songwriter. Since his daughter’s death in 2001 he has written music about child loss and presented to groups on proactive grief.

Today I am also thankful for easy to make meals! I am not the greatest cook by any means, but today's meals are so simple to prepare. I don't like sloppy joes but they are so easy to make.  Just brown some beef and add the Manwich sauce. Dan and Olivia love sloppy joes.  I buy some ground beef and some ground turkey, mix it, season it, brown it and add the Manwich sauce after draining the meat.  I also made hamburger patties and froze half of them.  My freezer is so empty because I threw away all the meat from the power outage.  I also bought a cooked chicken today, there are so many meals easily made with a cooked chicken!  I'm beginning to sense a food theme in my blog!! Dan always says it is about the food!! I watched The Chew today and the hosts showed how to make roast pork and ribs.  They just sliced the rib section easily from the pork loin and made a great seasoning rub with kosher salt, curry, ground black pepper and cumin.  It looked delicious.  I am wondering if my other friend Carol watches The Chew, she loves food! I don't know how she does it, but she can eat and eat and not gain weight! That has never been a condition I have had. I can eat and eat but I do gain weight and it does show.  I was at the gym today and watched Rachel Ray, her guest was Kathie Lee(formerly Billy Joel's wife).  They make cooking from scratch look so easy!  But someone measures and puts out the ingredients and utensils for them, and best of all, CLEANS up after them. I think staff members usually food shop for her too!  I  usually don't have all the ingredients they talk about using in recipes. It's the clean-up that is the pain after cooking! But watching them makes me forget that I am on the treadmill and that is a good thing because I hate to exercise! I am still waiting for endorphins to kick in!
